Grave of “El Mencho” was filled with floral arrangements on the occasion of his birthday
Some of the arrangements had figures alluding to his love of cockfighting and others included messages of congratulations and memories.
Dozens of floral arrangements were placed this July 17 on the grave of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias “El Mencho”, in the Recinto de la Paz private cemetery, in Zapopan, Jalisco, on the occasion of the date on which he would have turned 60, according to various Mexican media.
According to the weekly Proceso, since before noon wreaths and large floral arrangements began to arrive at the mausoleum where the remains of the former leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) rest.
Some of the arrangements had figures alluding to his love of cockfighting and others included messages of congratulations and memories.
Among the offerings, four monumental structures stand out: three shaped like a rooster and one like a horse, as well as crowns made with red roses and arrangements of white flowers.
During the afternoon a musician also arrived, who reported that he would give a performance at the cemetery, although he did not specify for which family.
The media also reported a reinforcement of surveillance in the vicinity of the pantheon.
Elements of the National Guard and the Municipal Police carried out preventive tours to maintain order during the arrival of visitors and rule out security incidents.
According to ZETA Tijuana, the site has remained under surveillance since the burial of Oseguera Cervantes and in recent months citizen complaints had been reported about the presence of armed people in the vicinity of the cemetery, although local authorities indicated that no criminal activities were confirmed.
Oseguera Cervantes, who died in February 2026 during a detention operation carried out by the Secretariat of National Defense in Tapalpa, Jalisco, would have turned 60 on July 17, 2026.
