Biparjoy: 'Better coordination saved lives, reduced losses'; Amit Shah said after visiting the affected areas

Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and senior officials at the collector's office in Bhuj to take stock of the situation in areas affected by 'Biparjoy'. After talking to reporters, he said that there was not a single casualty due to the cyclone. The way Gujarat government and central agencies have worked to save lives during this period is a classic example of teamwork.
Able to compete due to better coordination
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had held a review meeting, in which separate meetings, video conferencing and exchange of information were held to alert the system. Due to better coordination between the Center and the State, we were able to weather the terrible storm. When the cyclone hits the coast with a speed of 140 km, imagine what a horrifying sight it must have been. The great thing is that when it is reviewed on the third day, it is found that not even a single person has lost his life, then there is satisfaction of working.
Prime Minister ordered to make arrangements
Shah said that around 47 people were injured due to Cyclone Biparjoy, but none of them were seriously injured. Around 234 animals died during the cyclone. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had ordered all arrangements to be made before the cyclone hit. The PM himself had discussed with the state government and agencies regarding the preparations.
Will restore electricity by June 20: Shah
He informed that out of 3400 villages where power supply was stopped, power has been restored in 1600 villages. I have been assured that by the evening of 20th June, electricity will be restored in all the villages.
Millions of people were evacuated to safe places
Around 1.08 lakh citizens were shifted to safer places due to the cyclone. Around 73,000 animals were moved to safer places. He said, more than one lakh fishermen were taken to safer places. 19 teams of NDRF, 13 teams of SDRF and 2 reserve battalions were deployed. Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Police and BSF have worked with NDRF and SDRF to ensure security. Union Home Minister Amit Shah met the people of Kathda village in Mandvi. Besides this, he also met NDRF personnel in Kutch district.
