Due to the increasing terrorist attacks, 10 Kashmiri Pandit families have left their homes in South Kashmir's Shopian district and have come to Jammu. It is worth noting that in Kashmir, many Pandits have left their homes due to the fear of targeting the Kashmiri Pandits by terrorists.

Regarding leaving Kashmir, people told that due to the recent increased terrorist attacks, there is tension in the entire area. Attacks have increased in recent days: Let us tell you, on October 15, Kashmiri Pandit Puran Krishna Bhat was shot dead by terrorists outside his ancestral house in Shopian Chaudhary Gund village. On October 18, Monish Kumar and Ram Sagar were killed in a grenade attack by terrorists in Shopian itself. A resident of Chaudharygund said that 10 Kashmiri Pandit families i.e. 35 to 40 people of the community have left the village due to fear and tension. He said that the village is now empty.
Kashmiri Pandits say that the situation has completely changed in the Kashmir Valley which is no longer fit for us to live in. Due to the continuous killings, people are living in fear. No security arrangements have been made for us. The villagers alleged that a police post has been set up far away from their village despite repeated pleas to provide security. He said that he has left everything in his homes including the apple crop.
