Women Army Officers into Artillery Regiments: For the first time, the Indian Army has inducted five women officers into its Artillery Regiment. Women officers on Saturday joined the Regiment of Artillery after successfully completing their training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai.
186 candidates participated in the passing out parade held at OTA Chennai. Of these, 29 candidates are citizens of Bhutan. The passing out parade was reviewed by Bangladesh Army Chief COAS General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed.

Artillery Regiments three deployed to China and two to Pakistani border
Military sources said that the women officers who have been inducted into the Regiment of Artillery include Lt Mehak Saini, Lt Sakshi Dubey, Lt Aditi Yadav and Lt Pavitra Moudgil. Sources said that of the five women officers, three have been posted in units deployed along the border with China and the other two have been posted at "challenging locations" near the border with Pakistan.

Artillery Regiments initiative was taken in January
A source said that the commissioning of women officers in the Artillery Regiment is a big testimony to the ongoing transformation in the Indian Army. In January 2023 itself, Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pandey announced the decision to appoint women officers in artillery units. Later this proposal was approved by the government. After this, for the first time, the Indian Army has inducted five women officers in its Topkhana (Artillery) Regiment.
