Before the G20 summit in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden shortly. His plane landed at Delhi airport at around 6.50 pm. From here he is going straight to the Prime Minister's residence.
Earlier, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth held a bilateral meeting with PM Modi in Delhi. After this, Prime Minister Modi held a bilateral meeting with Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina on the sidelines of the summit.
Bilateral talks with Biden
In the bilateral talks between Prime Minister Modi and the US President, emphasis is likely to be laid on further strengthening the India-US comprehensive global and strategic partnership. The two leaders are expected to review ongoing bilateral cooperation in areas such as clean energy, trade, high-technology, defence. Along with this, they can also discuss how both the countries can contribute in tackling some of the serious challenges facing the world.
Biden's first visit to India
This is Biden's first visit to India as President of America. Before this, the last US President to visit India was Donald Trump, who came to India in February 2020.
PM Modi will hold more than 15 bilateral meetings
Prime Minister Modi will hold more than 15 bilateral meetings till Sunday with various world leaders coming to participate in the G20 summit. The Prime Minister held bilateral meetings with the US President and Bangladeshi Prime Minister at his official residence on Friday. Earlier, he also had a meeting with the leader of Mauritius.
There will be meetings with them for the next two days
Apart from attending G-20 events on Saturday, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of Britain, Japan, Germany and Italy. PM Modi will have a lunch meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday. The Prime Minister will also hold meetings with his Canadian counterpart. He will also hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of Comoros, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, South Korea, European Union, Brazil and Nigeria.
