Now China will not be able to succeed in this conspiracy
In fact, on Saturday, the first day of the 'G20' summit, when the acceptance of 'New Delhi Declaration' was announced, Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar had revealed 'Modi's guarantee'. Dr. Jaishankar said, in the conference held in Indonesia last year, the African Union had requested PM Modi to make him also a member of the group. Experts say, it was not easy for AU to get permanent membership of G20. The stance of Russia and China was somewhat different in this regard. China did not like the expansion of 'G20'. Because, this affects its stature in the Global South. For almost a decade, China's focus has been on countries that are not very close to America, Britain or India. China is trying to make such countries members of the groups which are under its influence. It is here that India played a diplomatic trick and made AU a member of G20. China's effort was to fulfill its economic goals through heavy investment in African Union countries. Now China will not be able to succeed in its conspiracy to exploit those countries. The natural resources of 55 AU countries will be saved from coming under the influence of China.
Yes to expansion in 'BRICS' but no to 'G20'
China is trying to expand BRICS. Due to this, the way has now been cleared for the inclusion of Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia and Argentina in this organization. The representation of this group will increase in the Middle East, Africa and South America. The membership of these countries will be effective from January 1, 2024. Till now BRICS includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
The world's five largest developing countries under 'BRICS' account for 41 percent of the global population. Representing 24 percent of global GDP and 16 percent of global trade. China, on the other hand, was not in favor of the expansion of G20. The reason is that many big countries can compete with it here. Understanding this policy of China, India has made 'AU' a permanent member of G20. G20 countries will now account for approximately 80 percent of the world economy. Earlier in the G20 summit, it was being said that the announcement of 'New Delhi Declaration' might get stuck, but PM Modi has surprised the world by agreeing on 112 issues. While India has tried to break China's conspiracy in African countries through its diplomacy, it also found a way to agree on the 'New Delhi Declaration' amid the shadow of the Russia-Ukraine war.
India will now play an active role on the diplomatic front
According to sources, the acceptance of 'New Delhi Declaration' in G20 is a big victory for India on the diplomatic front. The reason is, G20 includes all the superpowers. In his presence, India has found a way to agree. America, France, Britain and Japan also did not create obstacles in the matter of making 'AU' a permanent member. It was written in the ninth stanza of the manifesto, We reaffirm that the G20 is a major forum for international economic cooperation. This group is not a forum to resolve geopolitical and security issues. However, we recognize that these issues can have significant consequences for the global economy. By saying this, India gave a message to both China and Russia. However, China was not mentioned anywhere.
Russia and Ukraine were also resolved through diplomacy
The 13th paragraph of the 'New Delhi Declaration' reads, We appeal to all states to maintain territorial integrity and sovereignty, in accordance with international law. Call for upholding the principles of international law, including humanitarian law, the multilateral system that safeguards peace and stability. Diplomacy and dialogue are important in striving for peaceful resolution of conflicts and resolution of crises between different countries. We will be united in our effort to address the adverse impact of war on the global economy. Would welcome all relevant and constructive initiatives supporting a comprehensive, just and durable peace in Ukraine. Provided, however, that all such initiatives shall maintain all the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations. To promote peaceful, friendly and good neighborly relations among nations in the spirit of One Earth, One Family and One Future. By doing this, India sent a message to 'Russia and Ukraine' and made the stand of G20 clear.
Who said what at the G20 summit
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Saturday declared the 'G20' meeting a success. After taking a selfie with PM Modi, he said, there has been a good bilateral discussion between India and Australia. A meaningful policy has been made regarding the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) between the two nations. Last May, PM Modi went to Australia. Even then both the countries had explored the possibilities of 'investment'.
Albanese said, Australia is a better place because of the contribution of the Indian-Australian community. Both countries are working together to promote renewable energy. PM Modi said, India will be an effective medium of economic integration between West Asia and Europe. This will provide sustainable direction to connectivity and development across the world.
Terming the announcement of the India-Middle East-Europe Shipping and Railway Connectivity Corridor as a big deal, US President Joe Biden said, over the next decade, the partner countries will address the infrastructure gap in lower-middle income countries. Biden said, I want to thank Prime Minister Modi. One Earth, One Family, One Future, this is the focus of this G20 summit. Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGII) and India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, cooperation in the development of connectivity and infrastructure involving India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, European Union, France, Italy, Germany and the United States. But this is a historic initiative.
Economic corridor is a better initiative
Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Salman said, I want to thank those who have worked for the Economic Corridor initiative, which was announced during the G20 meeting. President Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, said middle-income countries need to invest in the infrastructure of their economies. The India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor is historic. It is going to create direct connectivity between India, Arabian Gulf and Europe.
Due to this, trade between India and Europe will increase by 40 percent. It will be a green and digital bridge between continents and civilizations. The announcement of the Trans African Corridor is also a large-scale infrastructure investment initiative. All members will benefit from this. French President Emmanuel Macron said, this is a very important project. All member countries are committed to investing for the long term. Germany's Chancellor Olaf Scholz has also called it an important project. In this, Germany will make an additional investment of 3500 million euros with the World Bank.
India has focused on Quad member countries
In May, the second summit of the Quad countries was held in Japan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the third Quad Politicians Summit in Hiroshima, Japan with a personal appearance along with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and United States President Joseph Biden.
PM Modi had stressed on the 'Partnership for Cable Communication-Connectivity and Endurance' to leverage the collective expertise of the Quad in design, construction, laying and maintenance of undersea cables. Politicians held important talks about developments in the Indo-Pacific region. As part of their vision for a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region, the leaders reiterated the importance of upholding the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity and peaceful resolution of disputes.
After the meeting, the Quad Politicians Vision Statement – 'Enduring Partners for the Indo-Pacific Region' was released, which articulates their principled approach. Experts say that in view of the ongoing border dispute with China, India will now try to corner China through its active participation in the 'Quadrilateral Security Dialogue'. The reason is, there are strong nations like America, Australia and Japan in this group. India has been increasing cooperation with Japan in many technology-related areas for the last several years. On the other hand, talks related to many types of military equipment are also going on with America.
