India invites Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi: India has sent an invitation to Egypt's President Fattah El-Sisi for the grand celebrations of Republic Day 2023. This invitation sent to El Sisi, who has been holding the presidency of Egypt since 2014, is being seen as India's equal access to both Africa and the Arab world.
India-Egypt relations getting stronger
This year both the countries celebrated the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations. At the same time, India is continuously increasing its political and military relations with Egypt. Keeping these things in mind, New Delhi has sent an invitation letter to the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, to be the chief guest on the Republic Day of 2023.
Importance of Egypt
Egypt is the most populous country in the Arab world. Along with this, Egypt is also the second largest economy in Africa. In such a situation, the laying of the red carpet for President Al Sisi indicates that Delhi-Cairo Ties will be given special attention in the coming years. This North African country is also included in the countries that have been invited for the G-20 summit to be held next year.
Some time ago Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh met President El-Sisi during their visit to Egypt. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Jaishankar had handed over a special message to him from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This is the second time that the Modi government has invited the leader of an African country for the Republic Day celebrations. Significantly, India has been keen to increase relations with Africa.
