Shraddha Murder Case: Hearing on bail plea of accused Aftab to be held on December 22

A Delhi court today heard the bail application of Aftab Amin Poonawala, accused of strangulating Shraddha Walkar and dismembering her body.

A Delhi court today heard the bail application of Aftab Amin Poonawala, accused of strangulating Shraddha Walkar and dismembering her body. The court has fixed the next date for hearing on the bail plea for December 22. Earlier it was reported that Aftab did not allow his lawyer to file a bail application in a Delhi court. Additional Sessions Judge Vrinda Kumari said the court has received information from Poonawala through email that the bail application was filed by mistake. After which the judge said, let me talk to the accused at 11:30 through video conferencing.

Aftab's lawyer found no reason to keep the accused in judicial custody

Aftab Poonawala 's lawyer said that Additional Sessions Judge Vrinda Kumari can hear the petition on Saturday. He said that the preliminary investigation in the case has been completed and the charge sheet is yet to be filed, so there is no reason to keep the accused in judicial custody. Poonawalla's judicial custody was extended for another 14 days on 9 December.

Shraddha Walkar's father meets MBVV's new police commissioner

Shraddha Walkar's father Vikas Walkar met the new police commissioner of Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) Madhukar Pandey and raised the issue of delay in action by the local police on his daughter's complaint. Vikas Walkar met Pandey on Friday along with Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kirit Somaiya. This meeting lasted for about 40 minutes. Vikas Walkar had met Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis on this issue on 9 December. That day, in front of the media, he demanded death penalty for Poonawala and also demanded an inquiry into the family members of the accused.

Aftab allegedly cut Shraddha's body into 35 pieces after killing her

Significantly, Aftab Poonawala had allegedly strangulated Shraddha Walkar to death in her flat in Mehrauli, Delhi. Later, he cut the dead body into 35 pieces and kept them in the refrigerator and threw them at different places during the course of three weeks. In this case, till now the narco test and polygraph test of the accused Aftab has been done.
