The three-day Global Maritime India Summit (GMIS) is scheduled to begin from today. Giving this information, Union Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the summit will be held in Mumbai today under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During this period, an investment of Rs 10 lakh crore and more than 300 MoUs are likely to be signed.

Sonowal said that this is the third edition of the Global Maritime India Summit 2023. Earlier it was also organized in 2016 and 2021. He said that under the leadership of the world's most popular leader PM Narendra Modi, the country has started moving forward rapidly on the path of development.

He said that through the conference, India is definitely going to become a leading maritime nation in the times to come. The progress that has been achieved in the Ministry of Ports and Waterways in the last nine and a half years has been possible only under the guidance of PM Modi.

Union Minister Sonowal further said that more than 50 countries are going to participate and it is expected that around Rs 10 lakh crore will be invested and more than 300 MoUs will be signed. He said he feels that it is certain that India will play a major role in the ports, shipping and waterways sector in the coming days.

He said that many senior ministers of the Government of India will participate in this three-day summit in various discussions. Apart from these, CEOs of leading maritime companies from different countries will also participate in the event.

The Union Minister said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, India is going to become the third largest economy in the world in a short time and to take this direction forward, our three-day Global Maritime India Summit is starting from today in Mumbai. This program will be inaugurated by PM Modi.
