Warner Bros. will release “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt For Gollum” worldwide on December 17, 2027.
The most emblematic epic fantasy franchise adds a new gem to its cast. Emmy-nominated and Golden Globes-winning star Anya Taylor-Joy is the latest addition to the cast of “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt For Gollum,” the upcoming film from Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema.
The actress joins a top-notch cast that already includes names such as Kate Winslet (Marigol), Jamie Dornan (Strider) and Leo Woodall (Halvard). Taylor-Joy will play Seren, a Sindar elf from the Forest Kingdom officially described as “a trusted and lethal agent of King Thranduil”, a role that had already been popularized by Lee Pace, who also returns to the saga, according to Variety.
Taylor-Joy thus coincides with other Middle-earth veterans: Ian McKellen will reprise his iconic role as Gandalf, Elijah Wood will once again be Frodo and Lee Pace himself will reappear as King Thranduil. But the big center of attention falls on Andy Serkis, who will not only star in the film giving life to Gollum again, but will also be in charge of directing.
This will be Taylor-Joy's third role in one of the studio's most iconic franchises, after her participation in “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” (2024) and the “Dune” films.
Precisely, the actress will soon appear in “Dune: Part Three”, the closing of the acclaimed trilogy by Denis Villeneuve, which will be released on December 18 of this year. In addition, she will star in “Lucky” on Apple TV , a production in which she also serves as executive producer.
