The war of words between Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has intensified. Both the CMs are not missing out on attacking each other.

In a fresh attack on his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been comparing the national capital with smaller towns after he claimed that Kejriwal could not fulfill his promise of making Delhi a London or Paris. Sarma said the Delhi Chief Minister has now expressed his desire to visit Assam and he did not ask him to come to Assam when the state was reeling under a flood-like calamity.

The war of words between the two chief ministers started when Kejriwal shared a news on Twitter, which said that 34 schools have been closed by the Assam government due to poor results. While sharing this news, the National Coordinator of Aam Aadmi Party said that closing the school is not a solution.

Taking a jibe at Kejriwal, Sarma tweeted, "You came to power promising to make Delhi London and Paris, do you remember Kejriwal ji? He said, when you could not do anything then you started comparing Delhi with Assam and Northeast states. Sarma said that when BJP comes to power in a city like Delhi, it will make it the most prosperous city in the world.

On reports of Kejriwal's visit to Assam, Sarma said, "I am sad that the desire to come to Assam did not arise in your mind when the people of Assam were facing a disaster like flood. And yes, your Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has been invited from Assam, he said. Sarma was apparently referring to the summons sent to Sisodia by a court here. The Assam Chief Minister had filed a defamation claim against Sisodia, on which the court has summoned Sisodia to appear on September 28.
