Russia ratifies "full support" for Venezuela in the face of the US blockade

Russia offered "its full cooperation" and support to Venezuela against the US blockade of ships, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil said on Monday, in a context where the Donald Trump administration maintains a military deployment in the waters of the Caribbean Sea and has confiscated two oil tankers, actions that Venezuela describes as acts of piracy and “blatant theft.”
On his Telegram channel, Gil indicated that he held a telephone call with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, with whom he reviewed what he called “aggressions” and “violations” of international law, referring to the attacks against vessels allegedly linked to drug trafficking and what he described as “extrajudicial executions” in the Caribbean, as well as the “illicit acts of piracy” by the United States.
“Lavrov firmly expressed Russia’s solidarity with the people of Venezuela and with President Nicolas Maduro Moros, and reaffirmed his full support in the face of hostilities against our country,” stated the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, who anticipated that Russia would express its “full support” for Venezuela at next Tuesday’s meeting of the UN Security Council.
Close cooperation
Through a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia stated that “the ministers expressed their deep concern regarding the escalation of Washington’s actions in the Caribbean Sea, which could have serious consequences for the region and threaten international navigation.” The document confirms that Lavrov “reaffirmed his full support and solidarity with the Venezuelan leadership and people.” The ministers agreed to continue their close bilateral cooperation and coordinate their actions on the international stage, particularly at the UN, to “guarantee respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs,” Moscow indicated. Russia and Venezuela have 26 years of cooperation that extends to the area of ??military equipment. Russian support for the Maduro government is not a concern for the United States because Moscow has its “hands full” with the war in Ukraine.Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed this last week at a press conference at the State Department.
