Senator Josh Hawley accuses Minnesota Attorney General of fraud and demands he be prosecuted
Republican Josh Hawley demands prosecution of Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison for allegedly benefiting from a multi-million dollar fraud
Republican Josh Hawley pointed the finger at Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison for allegedly helping people accused of participating in the multi-million dollar fraud committed against public finances during the pandemic.
For some weeks now, the Trump administration I have denounced an alleged fraud scheme of nearly $9 billion that harmed US finances during the COVID pandemic. In fact, the Department of Justice (DJO) issued a pair of subpoenas directed at Tim Walz, governor of Minnesota; And for Jacob Frey, the mayor of Minneapolis, who believes that both have been working to obstruct the efforts of federal agents to arrest those involved in the alleged fraud. As part of the investigations, during a Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing held this Thursday, Josh Hawley questioned Democrat Keith Ellison about his conduct as Minnesota Attorney General regarding the nonprofit organization Feeding Our Future, which is accused of implementing a scheme to defraud children's nutrition program during the pandemic. The Missouri senator maintains that, in 2021, Ellison met with some of the accused individuals some time after they had been part of the alleged fraud. The conservative senator claims that, following this meeting, the current Attorney General received $10,000 in campaign donations days later. "Those who ran the Feeding Our Future program came to you in your office." An official at the state capitol on December 11, 2021, asked for your help in getting the investigators to leave them alone. They complained to you for over an hour that state investigators were harassing them, and begged you to help them, and you agreed, surprisingly, and we know that you did. That's because it's all recorded… Why did you help them?
You helped scammers defraud your state and this government… and got a generous campaign contribution in return. You should be prosecuted,” Hawley shouted at him.
In response, the Minnesota attorney general denied the allegations against him and clarified that he had not received any donations of dubious origin.
“I didn't help them. You're lying,” he stated.
It should be noted that, in April of last year, the Center for the American Experiment, a conservative non-profit organization based in Minnesota, released a 51-minute recording in which two individuals linked to Feeding Our Future spoke with Keith Ellison during a meeting held on December 11, 2021.
