Uproar over forced entry of Muslim youths into Trimbakeshwar temple, wanted to do this work; Government took action
An official of the temple trust said on Monday that the security personnel of the Trimbakeshwar temple foiled an attempt by a group of people to enter the temple on Saturday night.
Some Muslim youths tried to enter the Trimbakeshwar Temple in Nashik on the evening of 13th May. The youths tried to offer a green sheet in the temple. Now the Maharashtra government has ordered a SIT inquiry regarding this incident.
Devendra Fadnavis orders formation of SIT
State Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis have ordered strict action by registering an FIR on the alleged incident. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also ordered the formation of an SIT headed by an Additional Director General of Police rank officers to investigate the incident. The SIT will probe not only this year's incident but also last year's incident when a certain mob allegedly entered the Trimbakeshwar temple complex through the main entrance gate.

According to the temple management, only Hindus are allowed to enter the temple. This temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.
After the incident, the temple trust lodged a complaint with the police. Fadnavis' office said in a statement that an officer of the rank of Additional Director General (ADG) would head the SIT. The statement said the SIT will investigate not only this incident but also another similar incident that took place in the same temple last year.
What did the temple trust say?
Trimbakeshwar Devasthan Temple Trust has written a letter to the police saying that on May 13, at around 09:41 pm, some other religious persons entered the Shri Trimbakeshwar Temple from North Mahadwar in a procession for the local sandal at North Mahadwar of Shri Trimbakeshwar Temple. When they tried to do so, the security guards of Maharashtra stationed at that place stopped the said persons.
Actually, according to the constitution, the people of the Hindu religion have been given the right to visit the Shri Trimbakeshwar temple. Through this letter, we want to bring it to your notice that due to the above reasons, efforts are being made to disturb social harmony. However, Mr. Trimbakeshwar Devasthan Trust's Hon. As per the instructions of the Board of Trustees, you are requested to kindly take appropriate legal action against the concerned after getting the matter properly investigated. Also requested to take care that such incidents do not happen in future.
