Botafogo gave a class on how to defend the elite of Europe
PSG coach Luis Enrique acknowledged that Botafogo is the club that has defended him best throughout the campaign. PSG dominated the season in Europe
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) coach Luis Enrique said on Thursday that the defeat against Botafogo was "a morale boost" and that it's time to prepare the team for a very open Club World Cup group stage final.
The Brazilian team "has been the team that has defended us best all season," the coach said in a press conference after the second group stage match, which ended with a 1-0 victory for the Brazilians.
The Cariocas' goal "has been a morale boost for them. And I repeat, I think they defended very well. We, on the other hand, haven't created the scoring chances that we normally do," he added.
Although "no one can know what will happen" in a final that is extremely open for this group, which also includes Atlético de Madrid, "it's a good idea to prepare for the third match as we have the previous ones, but the difficulty will be there," he insisted.
"If there's a team that's capable of turning the situation around, it's ours. We have to evaluate the match, analyze it, and show where we can improve. I think that in terms of attitude and behavior, my team has been very good. We haven't been fine and against an opponent that defends like they did today it was difficult for us," he acknowledged.
The Parisians will prepare for the third match against the Seattle Sounders, a game that will be played on June 23, "with the greatest of ambitions and with the clear intention of depending on us," he concluded.
