Denzel Perryman, linebacker of the Chargers, arrested for possession of weapons in California
NFL veteran Denzel Perryman was arrested after a traffic stop in Los Angeles
Denzel Perryman, linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers, was arrested Friday night and later booked Saturday for possession of firearms, without bail. The information was confirmed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which details that the player was stopped for vehicle code violations and that, during a search of his car, officers found five weapons, including two assault rifles.
The 32-year-old linebacker remains in custody at the South Los Angeles station and is scheduled to appear in Inglewood court on August 5.
We are aware of recent reports regarding the arrest of Denzel Perryman in Los Angeles. "We are currently gathering information and will fully cooperate with the process," his agent, Ron Butler, said in a statement shared by NFL Network.
His team stands by his integrity, but the investigation continues
Perryman's arrest comes just weeks before the start of the 2025 NFL season. The player had just returned to the Chargers, the team that selected him in the second round of the 2015 Draft, when they were still playing in San Diego. After a brief stint with the Carolina Panthers and two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders where he was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2021 Perryman returned to Los Angeles for his tenth professional season. His agent described him as “a father, teammate, and dedicated professional” and asked for respect for the legal process. “We are confident the matter will be resolved fairly and in accordance with the law.” Out of respect for the process and all parties involved, we will not be commenting further at this time," Butler added.
