Giorgio Chiellini becomes co-owner of LAFC
The former defender maintains his ties with the Los Angeles club, but now off the pitch
Former Italian footballer Giorgio Chiellini joined the LAFC ownership group on Tuesday, the American club announced in a statement.
In this way, Chiellini renews his ties with LAFC, this time as investor, after playing one season with them before his retirement in 2023 and after joining the first-team coaching staff as a Player Development Coach in 2024.
“When I arrived here three years ago as a player, I immediately felt this club had something special. It’s an ambitious organization, built by extraordinary people and supported by a community that truly makes you feel at home. That’s why, last year, I expressed my desire to become an owner, and now I’m proud to continue this journey and support a project I deeply believe in,” said the defender.
Chiellini, 40, joined LAFC in 2022 after a 17-year career at Juventus, where he achieved his greatest success as a player after developing at Livorno and after a brief stint at Fiorentina, where he captained the Italian national team to Euro 2020.
With LAFC, the former Italian international won two Western Conference titles (2022 and 2023) and the 2023 MLS Cup.
“Giorgio has always brought great leadership, professionalism and character wherever he goes, and his values ??align perfectly with the long-term vision we have for LAFC. We are grateful to have Giorgio as our friend and now partner,” said Bennett Rosenthal, CEO of LAFC.
