It is close to being finalized: Guido Pizarro anticipates the signing of Angel Correa with Tigres
The coach of the Liga MX team said that the arrival of the world champion with Argentina and Atletico de Madrid player is scheduled for Wednesday
Argentine Guido Pizarro, coach of the Tigres UANL of Mexican soccer, revealed this Saturday that the signing of Angel Correa, Atletico de Madrid winger, with the felines is close to being finalized and only needs “a few” details”.
“I understand that Angel arrives on Wednesday, there are just a few details missing,” he explained in a press conference after a friendly match of his team, which is preparing for the 2025 Apertura tournament, against Tampico Madero.
Correa has been linked in recent months with the felines, who are close to closing the signing of one of the world champions with Argentina in Qatar 2022.
The Rosario native, Spanish champion with 'Atleti' in the 2020-2021 campaign, will arrive at the Mexican club at 30 years old and with 469 games with the colchoneros, in which he scored 88 times and distributed 65 assists.
Along with the signing of 'Angelito', Pizarro confirmed the arrival of another striker, the Mexican Edgar Ivan Lopez, who comes from the champion Toluca, and the interest in hiring the Honduran Jose Rosales, left back of the Minnesota United of MLS.
Rosales is one of the options. We don't have a left-footed defender and we need to bring one in. He's one of the possibilities, and hopefully it can be resolved, Pizarro said.
The felines, Mexico's most successful team of the past decade, will debut in the 2025 Apertura against Juarez FC on Matchday 2 on July 19; their match from Matchday 1 has been rescheduled.
