Joao Pedro after fight in final of the Club World Cup with Luis Enrique: “They don’t know how to lose”
Joao Pedro was involved in an altercation with Luis Enrique after the Club World Cup against PSG
The final between Chelsea and PSG for the Club World Cup ended with a fight involving Joao Pedro and Luis Enrique.
The Spanish coach grabbed the Brazilian striker and it was recorded on all the cameras. Pedro stated that PSG don't know how to lose and that he only wanted to protect his teammates.
“I went to protect Andrey (Santos). I saw the players surrounding him. Like a good Brazilian, I went to protect a friend. A lot of people were coming and, in that mess, I ended up being pushed. It's part of the game. They don't know how to lose, I think. It's part of the game. Now it's time to celebrate,” João Pedro told Brazilian channel Sportv.
The Brazilian striker, who joined PSG in the Club World Cup qualifiers from Brighton, even broke down in tears in the interview recalling his successful time in this competition.
“I was on vacation for 40 days and I'm arriving in the middle of the championship, with great teams. What I'm experiencing is inexplicable. I don't know what to say. I had been working with a personal trainer,” he added.
As a starter, he made his debut against the team that saw him grow up, Fluminense, whom he eliminated with two goals and ended by apologizing to his fans: "It was tough. My first final. I'm experiencing something inexplicable. Two goals in the semi-final, one in the final. Inexplicable," he repeated.
Luis Enrique apologizes after altercation with Joao Pedro
Luis Enrique collided with the Brazilian by releasing his left arm and hitting the player first in the chest and then in the face. The incident caused several minutes of discussion between the two teams, before the situation calmed down.
"At the end of the match, there was a situation that I think was totally avoidable, on the part of everyone. My objective and my intention, as always, was to try to separate the players so that there would be no more problems," said Luis Enrique in a press conference.
PSG will not be able to complete the feat of seven titles in a seventh season after losing the last title of the campaign, the new Club World Cup.
