Mexican Osmar Olvera Wins His Third Silver at the World Diving Championships
China Jiuyuan Zhen once again snatched the gold medal from the Mexican diver, this time from Juan Celaya in synchronized diving on the 3-meter springboard.
Mexican Osmar Olvera had to settle, once again, for the silver medal at the World Championships in Singapore, after finishing, partnering Juan Manuel Celaya, in second place position in the synchronized diving final from the 3 meter springboard.
The same place as Olvera, double Olympic medalist at the Paris Olympic Games, occupied on Saturday in the Mixed Team Final and on Sunday in the 1 meter springboard, falling to Jiuyuan Zhen.
Behind the unapproachable China that added its fourth Gold in the Asian city with the impressive performance of Zongyuan Wang and Zhen, who took the victory with a total of 467.31 points.
Eighteen more than Osmar Olvera, 21 years old, and Juan Manuel Celaya, 26, who were relegated to second place of the podium with a score of 449.28 points, a year after winning the world gold medal in this same category.
It was of no use to the Mexican divers, current Olympic runners-up, to present the most difficult series of all the finalists against the perfection of Wang and Zhen, who signed a spectacular 99.18 points in their sixth and final jump.
The podium was completed by the British Anthony Harding and Jack Laugher who, as happened last year at the Paris Olympic Games, took the Bronze medal behind China and Mexico with a total of 405.33 points.
