Ni en el tricampeonato: Andre Jardine assures that America reached its maximum level against Atlas
The coach who was three-time champion with the Azulcremas said that his team is at its highest level since he started working with them
Brazilian Andre Jardine, coach of America in Mexican soccer, assured that his team reached its maximum performance since he took over and is ready to be a protagonist in the 2025 Apertura tournament of Liga MX.
“Since I've been here, today we find the highest level of a squad that works hard and competes against each other all week. I am certain that good things are coming for America in this tournament,” the coach said at a press conference.
Las Aguilas defeated Atlas 2-4 on Sunday with goals from Uruguayan Brian Rodriguez, Spaniard Alvaro Fidalgo, Frenchman Allan Saint-Maximin, and Chilean Victor Davila.
The Brazilian coach accepted that Atlas made the match difficult for them due to the decisiveness they showed and the good spirit of the group with the return of Argentine Diego Cocca as coach.
“It was a victory on a field that is never simple; Atlas is very motivated with their new coach,” he said.
America is in second place with four wins, two draws, and 14 points, one less than leader Monterrey.
According to the coach, his team played their best 30 minutes so far in the first round. of the tournament, although he is still concerned about some errors that have cost them goals.
"Our team has perhaps played its best 30 minutes of the tournament; they were impeccable, with great mobility, initiative, play on the wings and with dangerous crosses," he explained.
The blue and cream team will host Pachuca, fourth in the standings, next Saturday, in the seventh round of the Apertura.
