Shakur Stevenson assures that Zepeda did not hurt him: He has some punch

Shakur Stevenson assured that William Camaron Zepeda has some punch, but did not hurt him in their fight last weekend where he emerged victorious and retained his Council lightweight title World Boxing Championship (WBC).
At the post-fight press conference, Stevenson acknowledged that Camaron Zepeda is a tough fighter with heavy hands, but his punches didn't feel that powerful.
“People think I got hurt, I was watching the video because he threw a jab and I was a little off balance and when I was off balance, he kept throwing, so it looked like he was hurt, but I swear, if he was hurt, I would tell you,” he said.
“He has some punches, he has 27 knockouts, man, we're at the highest level of boxing, so he has some punches, he has like a heavy punch, it's not like a punch that kills you in one hit. He's heavy when he hits you over and over and over again, you feel it, so he's tough,” he added.
The fight between the two was very close, but Shakur Stevenson was more precise when it came to connecting and as he promised, he stayed to exchange with the Camaron Zepeda. Although the Mexican threw twice as many punches as his opponent, most fell short due to the American's excellent defense.
In the end, the judges awarded Stevenson a wide unanimous decision victory with scores of 118-110, 118-110, and 119-109; he retained his WBC lightweight title.
Shakur Stevenson, 26, once again defended his WBC lightweight championship in a great fight against Zepeda. The American has a record of 23 wins, 11 by knockout, and no losses.
William 'Camaron' Zepeda, 28, lost his undefeated record in the sport and his chance to become the absolute champion when he fell to Stevenson. The Mexican fighter has a record of 33 wins and no losses, 27 of them by knockout and one loss.
