A Texas high school teacher and football coach faces eight federal charges for child sexual exploitation through the production of child pornography.
Caleb Elliott, who worked as a sixth-grade social studies teacher and football coach at Moore High School in the Celina Independent School District, Texas, was indicted by a federal grand jury, according to court documents reviewed by People magazine.
Elliott, 26, is accused of coercing eight victims “into engaging in explicit sexual acts for the purpose of producing a visual representation of such acts, using the internet and digital devices in their possession,” according to the indictment.
The charges allege that between April 8 and October 2, Elliott “employed, used, persuaded, induced, incited, and coerced minors into engaging in explicit sexual acts for the purpose of producing a visual representation of such acts, knowing that such visual representation would be transported and transmitted,” according to the court documents.
In addition to the eight federal charges, Elliott is listed as a co-defendant in a lawsuit filed by several families against the Celina Independent School District. The lawsuit alleges that, in one incident, “Elliott pulled the minor plaintiff, John Doe, aside and confiscated his backpack, telling him he had to do jumping jacks completely naked as punishment to get it back,” according to the complaint. “Our lawsuit was filed shortly after Caleb Elliott's arrest on behalf of three families who had been victims of his recording of their young children in the locker room,” attorney Paul Herz told People magazine. “Since then, the lawsuit has grown to include a dozen families.” “We have learned a lot in the short time the lawsuit has been ongoing, involving children of varying ages, from 12 to 15,” Herz added. who represents a group of families in a civil lawsuit seeking $1 million in damages against the Celina Independent School District. “We hope to accomplish a great deal in uncovering the truth for these families, and that is the primary instruction I have been given: not to recover money or obtain large settlements, but to discover the facts,” Herz stated regarding the investigative phase of the case. The federal indictment came after Elliott was arrested on November 7, according to Collin County Jail records. Elliott was arrested on suspicion of “sexual exploitation of a minor, inducement/authorization of sexual exploitation” and is being held on $350,000 bail.
