Blake Lively demands financial compensation after her deal with Justin Baldoni
The actress filed a new motion in the court in which requests to be declared"victorious" in the case, as well as financial compensation
The legal agreement reached by Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni seems not to have been a sufficient remedy for their media dispute. Only days from the signing of said agreement, it was revealed that the actress filed a new motion with the court in which she requests to be declared “victorious”defendant” in the case, as well as the payment of her attorneys'fees and other financial remedies.
According to the document recovered by Us Weekly, the 38-year-old famous hopes that the resolution is recognized as a triumph for her fav or and to be remunerated “for the damage caused by the Wayfarer Parties’ retaliatory defamation action against him.”
“Miss Lively respectfully requests a resolution that recognizes her as a ‘victorious defendant’ and, as such, is entitled to her reasonable fees and legal costs.” for having defended successfully in the litigation and for punitive damages sufficient to deter the Wayfarer Parties from involving such conduct in the future,” the briefing.
This petition, according to Variety, would be covered by the Survivor Protection Act against Instrumentalized Defamation Suits. Said The law is intended to protect victims of sexual abuse who face defamation lawsuits as retaliation for sharing their testimony.
The motion mentions that Blake Lively relied on that recourse in September 2025, after Baldoni issued a defamation lawsuit that was dismissed by the court in June of the same year.
In a statement released by Variety magazine, one of Lively's attorneys, Sigrid McCawley, explained that this move is also intended to set legal precedent for other survivors who face defamation lawsuits as an instrument of retaliation.
“This agreement is a resounding victory for Blake Lively (…) This is really a space where she has been able to do great good for the survivors, and wants to continue that work. This, for her, goes much beyond,” the lawyer detailed.
In parallel to this petition, the protagonist of “It Ends With Us” seeks approval of the “Speak Your Truth Act”, a pending bill in the legislature of the state of New York which intends to replicate the protection of Californian law, mentioned above, in that state.
