Angel Correa, how did the world champion fare in Liga MX?
Tigres UANL enjoyed the services of Angel Correa from Atletico Madrid. The Argentine is on the radar of MLS
Mexican soccer has been a major player in the transfer market. Tigres UANL was one of the clubs that made significant signings. Although they didn't win the Apertura 2025, the university team has a solid foundation for the next tournament. Angel Correa was one of the pleasant surprises. In July 2025, Angel Correa was announced by Tigres UANL. The Argentine striker left Atletico Madrid after a decade with the "Colchoneros." The South American arrived at the club with impressive credentials and did not disappoint in his first season. The 30-year-old forward played 30 matches throughout the season with Tigres. Correa played in the Leagues Cup, Club World Cup, Apertura 2025, and the Liguilla (playoffs). In more than 2,400 minutes on the field, the Argentine scored 15 goals and provided 4 assists. Correa's contribution was truly influential within Guido Pizarro's squad. An interesting statistic from Angel Correa's arrival at Tigres UANL is that in every match in which the Argentine scored a goal, the Tigres did not lose. The record stands at 6 wins and 4 draws.
Correa on MLS radar
Tigres UANL fans must be satisfied with Angel Correa's contribution. But the tranquility of the feline team could be disrupted by a reported interest from Major League Soccer. Inter Miami reportedly wants the Argentine's services.
“Regarding Angel Correa, I was reading in an MLS insider report that Inter Miami wants him. That Inter Miami is going to spend money for him. We'll see,” reported Raza Deportiva.
Angel Correa has a long contract with the feline team. The Argentine's contract ends in June 2030. In this sense, Inter Miami would have to negotiate for the Argentine. Correa is valued at more than $10 million.
Although this transaction seems complex, it's worth mentioning the “Messi” factor. Playing alongside the captain of the Albiceleste could be an extra motivation for Correa. The former Atletico Madrid striker already knows what it's like to play with Messi. They have played together for the Argentine national team, where Correa won a Copa America and the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
