Carlo Ancelotti does not feel fear before the 2026 World Cup
The Brazil coach believes that there is no favorite in the World Cup. Ancelotti wants an “Italian” Brazil
There are just a few days left until the start of the 2026 World Cup. Carlo Ancelotti will lead his first World Cup at the helm of the Brazilian team. “Carletto” believes that there is no favorite team in the tournament.
The Europeans continue to be the rivals to beat in the World Cup. France, Spain and Portugal are some of the teams that start with the favorites label. But this conception does not exist in Carlo Ancelotti's mentality. For “Carletto” there is no superior rival in the World Cup.
"Today I don't see a favorite team. There are many teams that can compete to win, but none stands out (...) the champion will be the one that manages to overcome its weaknesses," said the Italian strategist in statements compiled by EFE.
Carlo Ancelotti has won multiple trophies at club level. This is his first experience on the bench of a national team and he hopes to have a combination of philosophies that shows the best of Italy and Brazil.
"The Brazilian (playing style) is in genetics. The Italian in work, a lot of work. I'm going to try to combine the two things," he added.
What is the status of Neymar Jr.
Neymar Jr. was called up, surprisingly for some, to the 2026 World Cup. However, in preparation training for the World Cup, “Ney” complained of some discomfort in his calf. The Santos FC footballer underwent some tests and the diagnosis determined a grade II muscle injury in the calf (specifically in the right calf).
"I think Neymar's situation is very clear. He is doing an excellent individual job. Tomorrow he will undergo an MRI and, if everything goes well, he will join the group next week," Ancelotti updated on Neymar Jr.'s physical condition.
The Brazilian team will debut on Saturday, June 13 against the Moroccan team. This duel will take place at MetLife Stadium in New York, United States. This group is completed by the teams of Haiti and Scotland.
