Chivas show the exit door to Cade Cowell
The Mexican-American striker is not in Gabriel Milito's plans. Chivas hope to receive a good sum of money for him
Chivas of Guadalajara have returned to competing well in Liga MX. Gabriel Milito managed to fine-tune his players from the bench. But not everyone has the opportunity to play in Milito's plans. One of those sacrificed would be Cade Cowell.
Cade Cowell was one of the most high-profile signings the Chivas board managed to secure The 22-year-old forward arrived in Mexico from the San Jose Earthquakes. The California-born striker was expected to be part of one of the club's most ambitious projects for the future. But Cowell is not in Gabriel Milito's plans, and the door is already open for him to leave. "He's not in the coach's plans, Gabi Milito (...) He already has a price tag in case any team is interested in signing him," reported Jesus Bernal of ESPN. The report details that the Chivas board would like, at the very least, to recoup the investment they made when they went to MLS to acquire him. However, Cade Cowell's current valuation may be much lower due to his inactivity.
“What Chivas would expect to get for him, at a minimum, is what Guadalajara paid for Cowell; which was $4 million. They even believe he can be sold for a little more than what was paid for him; around $5 or $5.5 million,” the report adds.
Cade Cowell at Chivas
Cade Cowell arrived in Liga MX in January 2024. Since then, the Mexican-American forward has played 68 matches, totaling only 3,119 minutes on the field (just over 45 complete matches).
The “Cowboy” has scored 11 goals and provided 4 assists during his time at Chivas. Cade Cowell's contract ends in June 2027.
