Metallica donates $100,000 to support victims of earthquakes in Venezuela
The American band made the donation through their foundation, "All Within My Hands"
The American band Metallica, through its “All Within My Hands” foundation, made a donation valued at $100,000 dollars to assist those affected by the earthquakes in Venezuela.
"While the full extent of the damage has not yet been determined, the United Nations reports that up to 6.8 million Venezuelans could be affected, including people displaced or who have lost access to electricity and water. In the three days after the disaster, more than 68,000 people were reported missing, and the official death toll exceeds 2,000 people," the group revealed.
This news was confirmed from the group's website with a statement detailing that the support was channeled through the organization Direct Relief, which is in the affected region to provide medical aid.
With this donation, Metallica contributes to collaboration between local and regional agencies to mobilize medical supplies and support search and rescue operations in areas that continue to need support.
“The donation includes first aid supplies, hygiene items for displaced families, medications to treat acute injuries and drugs for chronic diseases intended for people whose access to regular medical care could be interrupted,” it added.
It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time that the band made up of James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo allocates resources for humanitarian aid.
In addition to its focus on workforce education and technical training, it has joined relief efforts following natural disasters in different parts of the world, including the wildfires in Los Angeles and Hawaii.
