Madonna returns to the dance floor with “Confessions II”: Everything you need to know about the album
After seven years without a record material, Madonna returned with her long-awaited album “Confessions II”
The Queen of Pop is back. After seven years of recording silence, Madonna releases “Confessions II”, her fifteenth studio album. The album that was released this Friday, July 3, is full of dance songs and pop melodies that promise to become the soundtrack of the summer.
“Confessions II,” also titled “Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II,” is the direct follow-up to their acclaimed 2005 album, “Confessions on a Dance Floor.” On that occasion, Madonna had already explored the depths of dance and electronic music with resounding success.
Now, two decades later, he returns to that sonic path, but with a renewed outlook. According to the artist herself, the inspiration for this return arose from the complex global sociopolitical climate. Madonna decided to channel those tensions into happy and vibrant music, seeking to distract herself and offer her followers a space for escape and celebration.
Who collaborates on the album?
To achieve this continuation faithful to the original spirit, Madonna brought together her long-time collaborator Stuart Price, who co-wrote and co-produced the 2005 album, but she didn't stop there: she also added contemporary music production talent such as Martin Garrix, Cirkut and Andrew Watt, ensuring that the sound sounds both classic and current.
One of the most talked about aspects of Confessions II is its guest list, which mixes international pop stars, Latin talent and even a very special family touch.
Sabrina Carpenter appears on the album's fourth track, titled “Bring Your Love,” and the duo already previewed some of the magic when they performed the song together at the Coachella festival last April, generating enormous expectations among attendees.
Colombian singer Feid collaborates on the sixth track, “Read My Lips”, adding a fresh, Latin touch to Madonna's dance universe, while Belgian rapper and producer Stromae participates in “My Sings Are My Saviour”, a collaboration that promises to be one of the most eclectic and surprising on the album.
In addition, Madonna's eldest daughter, Lola Leon, also has her space on the album, appearing on the penultimate track, “The Test”, a gesture that underlines the personal and emotional nature of this project.
Good reviews
The release of “Confessions II” has been received with almost unanimous acclaim from specialized critics, who do not hesitate to describe it as one of Madonna's most solid works in the last two decades.
NME defines it as "Madonna's exciting return to the dance floor" and adds that "Madonna created her most vital album in more than two decades. This great lady still knows how to make us dance", highlighting the artist's ability to connect with the public through rhythm and energy.
Pitchfork goes further, noting that “Madonna not only created a passable album, but a great one.” Rolling Stone focuses on the structure of the album and describes “a non-stop 64-minute rhythm that flows like a club DJ set, where each song blends into the next, drawing inspiration from the entire history of dance music.”
“Confessions II” by Madonna is now available on all streaming platforms, as well as in physical formats for the most loyal collectors and followers.
