André Jardine acknowledged that he decided to leave and leave the door open for another cycle in America
André Jardine clarified all the rumors of his departure from América and the reason was a very worn relationship between both parties
Faced with the versions that have emerged about a very thorny and bellicose relationship that led to the departure of coach André Jardine from América, the Amazonian coach clarified in a press conference that the decision to leave was his due to the deterioration of the relationship between both parties.
"Clarify so that there are no rumors. Once the tournament was over, we digested it. We gave ourselves time to think about the future, the next step, and a feeling of thinking about continuity in various aspects grew in me. That's why I didn't rule out that there is another new opportunity to return to America," he highlighted.
"The wear and tear of three years at the head of a club with this demand that America has, which leads the coach to work to a limit in every sense. Three years seems like days to you, your gray hair is coming, a greater fatigue than normal. No matter how much love you have for the club, for the players, the wear and tear was already quite great," said the strategist.
Jardine also said that: "I had a first conversation with Baños explaining my feelings; he told me that it is normal. At three years old, I feel very tired with the pressure, I can't imagine Baños having more time; you have to admire him because it is not easy."
"Later there was a second meeting with Emilio; we talked about the things that were happening in my heart, in my head, we let a few days pass to make the decision and there the club began to have the same thoughts as me. We closed this stage, after what we did here, to protect the relationships a little," highlighted the strategist with the best numbers in the history of América.
Jardine in his last conference as América coach specified that the break in the relationship with the American team was due to several factors and that after the elimination with Pumas he told the board that he would take a few days to analyze the situation, but he made it clear that it was not because of a break with the board or due to different visions.
The winningest coach in the team's history mentioned that: "It was a decision on both sides when they saw that the wear and tear of this cycle was already great for the three years they lived," highlighted Jardine, who is also credited with making bad decisions in the recent tournament with the hiring of Raphael Veiga, Rodrigo Dourado and Vinicius, who ultimately did not give the expected results.
Jardine also commented that he later had another talk with Santiago Baños and the team's owner, Emilio Azcárraga, with both parties coming to the conclusion that the relationship was worn out and that it was best to end the project.
He explained that the expenses incurred by the company that manages América, such as the remodeling of the Azteca Stadium and the arrival of a new board of directors, were not the cause of his departure, especially because he recognized that the way resources are distributed allows the technicians to be well taken care of, but it is a fact that the strong investments of other teams generate greater competition.
"This league is complicated, the other teams put in a lot of money, 10 or 15 million. Cruz Azul is deserving of that title. There are five or six teams that compete at the top due to their form; now we have to take steps forward to fight again," he concluded.
