From Brazil they return to the charge for Marcel Ruiz
Palmeiras is once again looking to sign Marcel Ruiz. The Mexican remains in Liga MX despite the offers
Marcel Ruiz has been one of the standout players for Toluca. Ruiz has excelled within the team that recently won its second consecutive championship in Mexican soccer. The suitors keep coming. The train for Marcel Ruiz is passing by again.
Brazilian soccer has shown interest in the services of the Mexican midfielder. Palmeiras, one of Brazil's biggest clubs, reportedly wants to strengthen its midfield with a player from Toluca. This is according to a report by RTI Esporte. "Palmeiras has expressed interest in midfielder Marcel Ruiz, from Toluca in Mexico. The signing of the player is viewed favorably by the Palestra club," explains the Brazilian media outlet. During the summer transfer window, Marcel Ruiz had already been linked to this same Brazilian club. However, it all remained just an expression of interest that didn't quite convince the Mexican player.
“This isn't the first time Palmeiras has inquired about the player. Specifically, Marcel Ruiz was on Palmeiras' radar during the summer transfer window, but the player revealed his interest in European football,” the website detailed.
The same outlet explains that any club wishing to acquire Marcel Ruiz will have to pay his contract's buyout clause, which is approximately $16 million.
Although Ruiz's primary interest is to move to Europe, there's a possibility he might be interested in going to Brazil as a second option. The winter transfer window closes earlier in Europe than in South America. Should an attractive offer not arrive from the Old Continent, the Brazilians could make another attempt.
