The Mexican national team is preparing for its participation in the 2026 World Cup. El Tri has the objective of overcoming that obstacle of the fourth game. In Qatar they did not even manage to pass the group stage. Hirving Lozano acknowledges past mistakes to improve on them in the next World Cup.

With Javier Aguirre, El Tri will seek to leave the ghosts of the past behind. In the previous process, Mexico failed to advance past the group stage with Gerardo Martino on the bench. "Tata" left through the back door after failing to achieve the minimum objective that his predecessors had achieved: getting past the first round.

"Yes, I believe that (El Tri failed). The Mexican national team was used to at least advancing to the next phase, and in that World Cup, it couldn't be achieved. But it's a learning experience; it's something that had to happen, and now we're working to ensure that it doesn't happen again," Hirving Lozano told TUDN.

Hirving Lozano played all three matches for the Mexican national team at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. "Chucky" left without goals or assists in a team that only scored two goals in the final match against Saudi Arabia. “The truth is, it did hurt me a lot, that World Cup, even at home… It was tough,” he added.

2026 World Cup

Hirving Lozano sees himself playing in the 2026 World Cup. The San Diego FC forward may not have a secure spot like he once did, but he remains an experienced and prestigious player for the Mexican attack. “Chucky” hopes to be in the next World Cup.

“If I see myself in the World Cup, absolutely, it's my dream. It's my goal (to score again in the World Cup). I'm preparing very hard in every way, and I hope I can be in another World Cup. There's a lot of healthy and very tough competition,” he concluded.

Hirving Lozano's only goal in World Cups came in his debut match. “Chucky” scored against Germany in the 2018 World Cup in Russia. This goal gave the Mexican team all three points. Since that goal, Lozano has made six consecutive World Cup starts, but hasn't had the same luck.
