“The Grinch” sequel confirmed: Does Jim Carrey return as the protagonist?
Universal announced that it is planning a sequel to "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," and Jim Carrey is in negotiations to reprise his iconic role
Good news for fans of the iconic story “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” Universal and Imagine Entertainment announced that they are preparing a sequel to the film and Jim Carrey would be in negotiations to reprise the role that catapulted him to international fame.
According to information from The Hollywood Reporter, the production would be in its early stages of development. However, it was revealed that Ron Howard, who directed the first installment, would be in talks to resume this work.
The script will be written by Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and David Mendel, writers who worked together on the adaptation of “The Cat in the Hat”, another Dr. Seuss story, which at the time starred Mike Myers.
Despite the return of the iconic character “The Grinch” being revealed, it is currently unknown whether Jim Carrey will take on the role of the lonely creature who hates Christmas. And we cannot forget that the actor has expressed that he wanted to abandon the project in 2000 due to the exhausting process of preparing for the character.
However, it was thanks to the help of the production and a man, who trained CIA agents to resist torture, that he overcame the process and continued with his performance.
