Alarming: Ford recalls more than 389,000 vehicles for review again
Thousands of Fords and Lincolns must return to the shop after faults were detected in repairs carried out during previous recalls
Those who thought that their vehicle had already been completely resolved after an inspection campaign could receive unexpected news. Ford confirmed that hundreds of thousands of units will have to return to the dealership because some repairs applied in previous calls were not carried out correctly.

The new campaign involves 389,316 vehicles including cars, trucks and SUVs. The problem is not unique nor does it affect a single model. These are different defects that require new technical intervention to guarantee the proper functioning of the systems involved.

The situation comes at a particularly demanding time for the brand, which has accumulated numerous calls for review in recent months in different markets.
The Focus concentrates the largest number of units
The most important part of this new recall corresponds to the Ford Focus manufactured between 2012 and 2018. In total, 255,404 vehicles will have to be reviewed again due to a possible failure in the canister purge valve.
According to the company, the problem can cause the engine to shut down while the vehicle is moving. Although the defect had already been addressed previously, Ford now recognizes that the correction applied was not sufficient and the powertrain control module software will need to be updated.
There are also F-150 and Escape involved
Among the affected trucks are 91,190 units of the Ford F-150 produced between 2018 and 2020. In these cases, the daytime running lights may not reduce their intensity correctly when the main headlights are activated, increasing the risk of dazzling other drivers.
Added to this are 10,742 2018 model F-150s with the possibility of involuntary movement when changing gears quickly and another 4,445 2017 model units that can lose information from the instruments in low temperature conditions.
Meanwhile, 18,124 2017 Ford Escapes will have to return to the shop due to incorrect operation of the automatic window reversing system.
Mustang and Lincoln are not saved either
The campaign also reaches models with a more aspirational profile. A total of 4,151 units of 2019 Ford Mustangs, as well as some Lincoln Navigators and Lincoln Nautilus, have an issue that can leave the instrument display completely blank when starting up.
When this happens, the driver loses access to essential data such as speed, fuel level or vehicle alerts, a situation that clearly compromises safety.
Ford will begin contacting affected owners through official notifications. However, those who want to get ahead can check if their vehicle is part of the campaign using the VIN number.
The recommendation is not to ignore the call. Although the solutions mainly consist of software updates and will be carried out at no cost to the owner, delaying a visit to the workshop can increase the risk of incidents related to loss of power, lighting failures or absence of key information while driving.
