Julián Quiñones, like a razor, was crowned scoring champion in Saudi Arabia
Julián Quiñones was crowned scoring champion of the Saudi Arabian League with a hat trick against Ittihad FC, his closest pursuer at 22 points distance
The forward of the Mexican national team, Julián Quiñones, closed the tournament like a barber's razor by finishing off with a hat trick in the 5-1 win over Ittihad FC that put the icing on the cake for the Saudi Pro League scoring title with 33 goals, but could not help his squad's crowning.
Quiñones put the bolt on a tremendous year that he hopes to give him the harvest he longs for with the call for the 2026 World Cup, which will begin next June 11 against South Africa and where the attacker is expected to be part of the starting eleven as the last reference last March in the preparation match in Chicago against Belgium, where he had his best performance with the national shirt.
Quiñones scored the hat trick in the 5-1 win over Ittihad FC, where the Mexican striker was present at 33, 36 and 63 to collaborate in the victory of his squad that could not fight for the title and was placed below Al Ahli, Al Hilal and Al Nassr.
Al Qadisiya's other two goals were scored by Musab Al-Juwayr and Mohammed Aboulshamat to end the season on a high note against an opponent that finished 22 points behind in the table, after the top four in the standings stole the competition from start to finish.
The 29-year-old footballer was the figure of his team Al-Qadsiah, which finished in fourth place in the overall table, below Al Ahli, Al Hilal and Al Nassr, the team where Cristiano Ronaldo plays and which on this matchday 34 won the competition championship, something it had not achieved since the 2018-2019 campaign.
It was the fourth hat trick of the season for Julián Quiñones, in addition to four doubles. He only did not score in 13 of the 34 games of the football year, taking into account that of those 13, he did not see minutes in 3 due to injury. The Mexican beat Ivan Toney, a footballer who was leading the scoring table for almost the entire tournament.
The naturalized Mexican appears on the list of 55 players announced by the coach of the Mexican National Team, Javier Aguirre, last week. From that list will come the 26 with whom El Tri will face the 2026 World Cup.
A few months ago, Quiñones was highly questioned for his poor performance in the Tricolor, but Aguirre apparently found him a position coming from behind towards the center of the area that was very important for the generation of play against the Belgians.
This is how the scoring table looked
