The Guaguas Volleyball Club confirmed this Sunday the death of Willner Rivas Quijada, a 31-year-old Venezuelan player, who was buried with his family after the collapse of one of the buildings affected by the Venezuelan earthquakes recorded eleven days ago in La Guaira.
The news was announced by the Spanish institution through its social networks, where it expressed its condolences for the loss of the athlete and his loved ones.

According to the information released by the club, the bodies of Willner Rivas Quijada, captain of the Venezuelan national team, his wife Mariángel Pérez and his son Theo, barely a year and a half old, were found dead after several days of intense search work.
During that period, colleagues and various figures linked to volleyball made public calls to help locate the family after the tragedy that occurred in La Guaira.
Guaguas regrets the death of the player
The Guaguas Volleyball Club, current champion of the Spanish Super League, expressed its solidarity with the family and friends of Willner Rivas, as well as with the entire Venezuelan volleyball community, after the tragedy caused by the earthquakes.
The player had been announced as a reinforcement of the Gran Canaria team for the next season. His arrival sought to cover the departure of Cuban Osmany Juantorena, one of the team's leaders.

Until this Sunday, the information available indicated that Willner Rivas Quijada was at his home, located in the Venezuelan state of La Guaira, on the afternoon of June 24, when the two earthquakes occurred that caused the collapse of multiple buildings in the area.
