Lionel Messi would be close to a renewal with Inter Miami
Lionel Messi would stay with Inter Miami for more than one season after ending his contract in July
Lionel Messi and Inter Miami are reportedly close to a multi-year contract renewal to continue in Major League Soccer, according to ESPN.
Reports indicate that both parties are close to reaching an agreement for several seasons, despite rumors of interest from other teams in other leagues.
The Argentine star will finish his second year of contract this July after beginning in 2023 and become one of the most important pieces in the Florida club's short history.
Since the arrival of Lionel Messi, Inter Miami has won a Leagues Cup, the team with the most points in an MLS regular season and played in a Concacaf Champions League final.
In 2025, Messi has made 36 appearances for Inter Miami and has recorded a total of 28 goals and 14 assists in all competitions, including the Concacaf Champions Cup, the Club World Cup, MLS and the Leagues Cup. He is currently the team's top scorer.
Messi and Inter Miami take revenge against Seattle
Leo Messi scored a goal and gave an assist to Spaniard Jordi Alba this Tuesday in Inter Miami's 3-1 home victory over the Seattle Sounders, which allowed Javier Mascherano's team to leave behind the last two consecutive defeats and resumes the race towards the top of the MLS.
Inter Miami headed into the match against the Sounders after losing 3-0 to the same opponent in the Leagues Cup final and the same result against Charlotte, but Mascherano's men's comeback was overwhelming.
Despite still being far behind the Philadelphia Union in first place in the East, Inter Miami still has a chance to take the lead, being eight points behind but having three games less.
