Sergio Ramos receives a sanction for complaining about the referee on social media after the match against Santos
Sergio Ramos received a sanction from Liga MX after complaining about the refereeing after the last day of the match between Monterrey vs. Santos.
The Spanish defender received a financial penalty from the Disciplinary Committee of the Mexican Football Federation after criticizing referee Luis Santander on social media.
“What a shameful foul he called. Then they just tackle me on corners and say they’re duels and game events... hehe. The foul he called today is a joke!! This only happens here in this league! Nothing, keep going. They took two goals away from us today,” Ramos posted on his social media after the match.
Monterrey won 1-0 with a goal from Lucas Ocampos in the 36th minute. Ramos played the full 90 minutes of the match.
Liga MX decided to fine the Spanish player an undisclosed amount. Rayados de Monterrey are already preparing for their match on matchday 12 of the championship, which will be played away to Tijuana.
Tijuana will look to extend their good run against Monterrey
Xolos de Tijuana are coming off a great victory against Cruz Azul after taking away their unbeaten record.
Those led by Uruguayan coach Sebastian 'loco' Abreu, beat Cruz Azul 2-0 this weekend to take away their unbeaten record and the possibility of jumping the lead in the Mexican Apertura, currently held by Toluca.
At the close of the eleventh matchday of the championship, Argentine Domingo Blanco and Spanish-Moroccan Mourad El Ghezouani scored for the Xolos, who played with an extra man on the field from the fifth minute.
Monterrey is firmly in second place in the table, tied on points with Toluca with 25 units.
For its part, Tijuana is in sixth place in the table, the last direct spot in the Liga MX Liguilla, so it will have to continue adding points to get closer to the top spots in the standings.
