The Belize Football Federation officially confirmed this Saturday the cancellation of the friendly match that was to face its national team with the Vinotinto on Tuesday, October 14 in the city of Chicago, United States. The match was part of the FIFA double date and was scheduled to be the Venezuelan team's second appearance on North American soil.

No alternative in Miami

The possibility of moving the friendly to Miami was also evaluated, but quickly discarded. “The challenges, particularly surrounding public attendance, operational viability, and financial sustainability, made that option unviable,” explained the Belize Football Federation.

“The FVF regrets this situation that affects the sporting planning of the Absolute National Team, designed in advance and in strict compliance with FIFA protocols for the current international date,” the federation said in its official note.

In this way, the Vinotinto will close the double FIFA date of October with a single friendly match, the defeat at the hands of Argentina (1-0), as well as the national teams of Chile and Peru within the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol).

By For its part, the Belize Football Federation took advantage of the statement to thank its players, coaching staff, fans, and members for their understanding regarding the cancellation. "Above all, we reiterate that the safety and well-being of our players and coaches remains our top priority," the club said.
