Generally, Venezuelans support South American teams, but they also feel close to those countries where they have family and friends.
When it comes to soccer, Venezuelans are clear who they support: Vinotinto. However, the Venezuelan team has never qualified for a World Cup, which has caused its fans to inject passion and sporting sentiment into other teams.
Although Vinotinto was very close to qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, literally one victory away, the dream was broken on the last qualifying date. Once again their fans were “orphaned” in a World Cup, just as happened to Chile, Peru, Cameroon, Nigeria and even Italy.

What is the favorite team of Venezuelans in the US?

And the migration of Venezuelans to the United States and other countries, due to the political crisis in the Caribbean country, has also caused them to support nations where perhaps there is a family member or close friend. For example, having a brother who migrated to Argentina or an uncle who resides in Germany awakens a taste for their selections.
Real Madrid and Barcelona, a key factor for Venezuelans
Venezuelans have always been very fans of the biggest clubs in Spain: Real Madrid and Barcelona. This means that they prefer to support countries where there are one or more players from these teams.
A Venezuelan who is from Real Madrid will prefer Brazil for Vinicius Jr., France for Mbappé and company, or surely Portugal, for Cristiano Ronaldo and his victorious past in the Spanish club.
For their part, the Creoles who support Barcelona are clearly with Spain, full of footballers from the culé team, such as Lamine Yamal. The same happens with Argentina, because of Lionel Messi.
Venezuelans in the United States have very varied tastes when it comes to soccer, and although they always support their Vinotinto, they have no problems expressing their support for other teams. Even there will never be a shortage of those who say: “I am with whoever wins.”
