If a local network prevents direct access, for example, due to censorship, government restrictions, or technical outages, the proxy redirects the connection through an external channel to maintain communication.

Meta explains that, even with this intermediary connection, end-to-end encryption remains active. This means that neither the proxy server nor third parties can read messages, photos, or listen to calls, guaranteeing the same security and privacy as a normal connection.

The tool is especially designed for places where WhatsApp might be blocked or users experience prolonged network outages, as has happened in countries with digital censorship or political crises.
