The innovation focuses not only on comfort, but also on safety. Thanks to this feature, drivers can anticipate lane changes and maneuver with greater precision, even on complex highways or during rush hour traffic.

Artificial intelligence at the service of the driver

Real-time lane guidance combines the Google Maps navigation system with advanced artificial intelligence capable of identifying the lane the vehicle is in.

Using the Polestar 4's front cameras and road sign data, the system analyzes the surroundings and displays the information directly on the driver's 10.2-inch digital screen.

The result is an interactive visualization that highlights available lanes and precisely indicates which one to follow.

In addition, the system provides both visual and audible alerts to warn of upcoming detours or exits, reducing the risk of last-minute maneuvers.

User-centric technology

Sid Odedra, Head of UI/UX at Polestar, explained: “Over the past five years, Polestar's collaboration with Google has delivered numerous new features for Polestar owners. Real-time lane guidance continues Polestar's driver-centric user experience strategy, reducing stress behind the wheel and improving safety by minimizing worries about missed exits and last-minute lane changes.”

With this implementation, Polestar reinforces its focus on keeping the user experience at the heart of its technological development. Every update or improvement, the brand explains, aims to reduce the driver's cognitive load and make driving more intuitive.

Constant updates and global expansion

This new feature will arrive on Polestar 4 vehicles via an over-the-air (OTA) update in the coming months. The first markets to receive it will be the United States and Sweden, and it will then be progressively rolled out to other countries and road types.

The project is part of Polestar's ongoing commitment to keeping its models updated with the latest digital innovations, without the need to replace hardware or visit a workshop. This way, owners can enjoy an increasingly modern and connected driving experience.

A collaboration that continues to evolve

Andrew Foster, Director of Product Management Google Maps representative highlighted the importance of this partnership: "Polestar has been a close partner since 2020, when the Polestar 2, the first car with integrated Google Maps, was launched.
