Authorities identified the immigrant who died after being run over after attempting to escape an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid at a Home Depot store on the morning of Thursday, August 14, in Monrovia, Los Angeles County.
Carlos Roberto Montoya, a 52-year-old Guatemalan national, died at the hospital where he was taken after being struck by an SUV on the 210 Freeway while fleeing the operation by federal agents.
"The Consulate General of Guatemala in Los Angeles deeply regrets this sad event and is in contact with the family, providing the necessary assistance," officials from the Guatemalan representation in Los Angeles said in a statement.
