Man pushed onto subway tracks in New York achieves save
The 44-year-old victim suffered injuries to his face and legs. The attack came after another incident in Manhattan, which included a shooting in Times Square.
A man in New York City was pushed onto the train tracks at a Midtown subway station Saturday night, according to police.
The incident occurred shortly before 7:50 p.m. at the 50th Street and Seventh Avenue subway station, where the 1 line operates.
According to the New York City Police Department (NYPD), a 44-year-old man was waiting for a train when an unknown individual pushed him from behind, causing him to fall onto the tracks. Fortunately, no train was approaching at the time. The victim managed to get up and return to the platform on his own.
Paramedics transported him to a hospital with injuries to his face and legs, but in stable condition. The attacker fled immediately after the attack, and as of Sunday night, no arrests had been made. The case remains under investigation, according to Fox News.
Gun violence in Times Square hours earlier
The incident on the subway occurred just hours after another violent incident in the heart of Manhattan. At around 1:20 a.m. Saturday, a shooting erupted at the intersection of 44th Street and Seventh Avenue in Times Square, an area that was still crowded with pedestrians and tourists at that time.
According to police, a late-night dispute led to gunfire that left three people injured: an 18-year-old woman and two men, ages 19 and 65.
All of the victims were taken to hospitals and were out of danger.
The NYPD arrested a 17-year-old suspect, allegedly linked to the attack. It is being investigated whether the incident was motivated by a previous confrontation or if it was a random act of violence.
