Study reveals which are the states with affordable prices for older adults
Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas rank among the top states with the best quality of life for residents
The cost of living in the United States has been increasing in recent years and older adults, especially those with low incomes, tend to be one of the most vulnerable and affected populations in these situations.
According to a study developed by Caring.com, it highlights that “living alone can be a challenge for older adults, from greater concerns about their safety to the impact on their mental health.” So researchers analyzed several states across the country to determine which are the most affordable to live in.
In the online senior care platform's report, each state was scored from 1 to 10, taking into account several characteristics such as housing costs, food, transportation, health, recreation, and more. The states that occupy the top spots on the list are Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas:
Arkansas: It takes first place with a score of 8.57 out of 10. The reason for this is that this state has a low cost of living for seniors, its services such as health and recreation are affordable, and its property taxes are also low.
Missouri: This state gets second place for achieving a score of 8.9 out of 10, the report highlights that it is one of the best options to live because its medical care is quality and affordable.
Kansas: It achieves third place with a score of 7.98 out of 10, for seniors living in this state is favorable because its medical care is good, the price of its food is low, and the cost of living in general is affordable.
