A young woman trapped for days in a Dallas ravine is rescued alive: she survived the extreme heat and mud
Emergency teams faced high temperatures and difficult terrain to remove her from the scene and transfer her to a hospital.
A rescue operation in Dallas, Texas, saved the life of a young woman who was trapped for several days in a difficult-to-access ravine, covered in mud and sewage.
The discovery occurred on June 28, around 5:25 p.m., when a man who was near a high school heard faint cries for help coming from a wooded area.
Upon approaching the scene, he found the woman trapped in a deep area of the land and alerted the authorities, Fox News reported.
Police and firefighters faced dangerous terrain to reach the victim
After receiving the alert, the Dallas Police Department and the Dallas Fire-Rescue team activated a joint operation to reach the young woman.
Rescuers had to make their way about a quarter mile through a difficult area, while facing temperatures as high as 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius).
The area represented a challenge due to the depth of the ravine and the conditions of the terrain, which made access to the victim difficult.
Finally, emergency crews were able to extract the woman from the mud and transport her to a local hospital.
The young woman suffered dehydration and prolonged exposure to the sun
After being rescued, the woman received medical attention for severe dehydration, prolonged sun exposure and other injuries.
The authorities did not reveal the identity of the young woman nor have they reported how she ended up trapped in the ravine.
The case remains under investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.
The Dallas Police Department highlighted the collaboration between the different agencies that participated in the operation and noted that the safety of the community requires the joint work of police, firefighters and medical teams.
“The well-being of the Dallas community is not something that a single agency manages,” the department said in a post on the social network X. “It takes a collaborative effort of multiple teams and organizations working together to ensure the safety of each person.”
The authorities thanked the quick response of the officers, firefighters and paramedics, whose work made it possible to rescue alive a woman who was in an extremely vulnerable situation.
