Mitch McConnell's wife Elaine Chao chose to remain in China while he remains hospitalized
Mitch McConnell's second wife decided to remain in China carrying out work while the Republican senator remains hospitalized
For three weeks, Senator Mitch McConnell's health has been an enigma as he remains hospitalized, but spokespeople from his office affirm that he is recovering and his life is not in danger, which his wife Elaine Chao – former Secretary of Transportation – seemed to corroborate, as she continued traveling through China carrying out philanthropic works.
During the days in which the 84-year-old Republican was admitted to the emergency hospital, his second wife was traveling through Asia and, knowing that the legislator has gone through other health crises treated effectively in the hospital, she considered that what the doctors had done previously could improve her husband's condition whether or not she was present to care for him, so she ruled out the idea of not returning to the United States.
“The secretary was in China on a previously planned trip to support her family's philanthropic initiatives.
During the trip, he met with several people, including the United States ambassador. The senator's health did not justify his immediate return to the United States," said a spokesperson for Mitch McConnell in an interview with the Fox News Digital site.
Until now, the state of health of the conservative politician and the planned date for his return to the Senate remains in limbo.
Allegedly, the longest-serving senator in American history spoke by phone with Senate Majority Leader John Thune; and with John Barrasso who chairs the Senate Republican Conference.
"Their phone conversation lasted approximately 20 minutes. They discussed the latest news affecting the Senate elections, the Graham Platner scandal, and the recent Supreme Court ruling on coordinated spending limits.
Senator McConnell was very involved and is eager to return to the Senate,” said Kate Noyes, Barrasso's spokesperson, in a brief statement.
This statement sounds in contrast to a publication by Laura Loomer, a conservative commentator, shared on the X platform, where she states that Mitch McConnell will never return to the Senate.
"We spent four years calling out Democrats for covering up Joe Biden's mental deterioration, and now Republicans are doing the same to Sen. Mitch McConnell. @SenMcConnell, who is brain dead," he wrote.
