Ski patroller dies in avalanche accident in California
The officer, identified as Cole Murphy, was caught in an avalanche on Friday at Mammoth Mountain; the ski patroller died from his injuries
One of the two ski patrollers injured by an avalanche on Friday, December 26, at Mammoth Mountain has died from his injuries, the ski resort located in California's Sierra Nevada reported Sunday afternoon in an update.
The patroller, identified as Cole Murphy, 30, was working on avalanche mitigation with other colleagues when The incident occurred in the Lincoln Mountain area at approximately 7:30 am, before the start of ski operations. Murphy was caught in the avalanche and, after being rescued, had to be taken to a hospital outside the area, but he died from his injuries.
