High tensions are running high in Thailand after Mexican Fatima Bosch had a heated altercation with Nawat Itsaragrisil, the director of Miss Universe Thailand, during an event attended by all the contestants vying for the crown.
The clash between the two occurred after Fatima accused Nawat of directly targeting her and not letting her defend herself, due to his differences with Miss Universe Mexico.
The argument escalated to such a level that the Mexican representative left the venue, supported by some of her fellow contestants who came to her aid after the heated exchange on the eve of what could be one of the most important days of her life.
“As a country, you have my utmost respect. I truly love Thailand. I respect all of you; I think you are incredible people, but what the director did was disrespectful. I was insulted and disrespected in front of my fellow contestants. He called me stupid and yelled at me,” she said. Fatima's first impressions after the argument they had.
After what happened, the director of Miss Universe Thailand spoke out and gave his position after what happened with the representative of Mexico, while also requesting the presence of a Miss Universe representative. “If anyone didn't feel good, if anyone felt uncomfortable, I apologize to each and every one of you. If anyone isn't feeling well. If anyone isn't comfortable. If anyone is affected, I apologize to everyone,” she can be heard saying in a fragment of her defense. The altercation caused such a stir that Miss Universe Mexico has already come to Fatima's defense and made it clear that the young woman born in Villahermosa will not leave the pageant, but will fight to the end to take her country to the top. “Fatima is fine. With her head held high and her heart unwavering, she will move forward with the certainty and conviction of being the voice of those who don't have one.” Following that message of support,The young Mexican woman made it clear that she will not back down and will continue her fight to become the next Miss Universe. “I just want to tell my country that I’m here. I’m not afraid to raise my voice. I’m here stronger than ever. I have a purpose, I have things to say. We are in the 21st century and I’m not a doll to be put in makeup, styled, and having my clothes changed. I came here to be a voice for all women and all girls who fight for causes. I’m as committed to this as I was on day one, and as long as there is Miss Universe, Mexico will have a representative,” she stated in a video that went viral.
