Surveillance to be Focus of Doda Assembly Election: Harvinder Singh
District Election Officer Harvinder Singh outlines intensive surveillance measures for upcoming Doda Assembly election, including static teams and live monitoring of polling stations.
With the upcoming Assembly elections fast approaching, Harvinder Singh, the District Election Officer for Doda, has announced that surveillance will be one of the primary focuses in ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections in the district. In a recent statement, Singh highlighted a series of measures that are being put in place to closely monitor the electoral process and maintain the integrity of the elections.
Intensive Surveillance Measures
Speaking to the media, Harvinder Singh emphasized, “One of the main focuses of this upcoming Assembly election is surveillance. We have 27 static surveillance teams; they will work in three shifts at the borders 24 hours a day. We have also deployed 27 flying squad teams.” These teams are expected to work tirelessly to ensure that any suspicious activity or breach of electoral guidelines is promptly detected and addressed.
The deployment of the static surveillance teams will help secure the borders of Doda district and prevent any illegal or unauthorized movements that could impact the fairness of the elections. The teams are structured to operate around the clock in three shifts, providing a continuous presence and monitoring in sensitive areas. Their mandate is to check for any violations, including the movement of unaccounted cash, liquor, or any other material that could be used to unduly influence the election.
Flying Squads and Real-Time Monitoring
In addition to the static teams, the District Election Officer revealed that 27 flying squad teams have been constituted. These teams will be on the move throughout the district, responding to any incidents or reports of electoral misconduct. “The flying squads will work in tandem with the static surveillance teams to ensure a robust mechanism is in place to handle any situation that arises,” Singh noted.
One of the key highlights of the surveillance strategy is the live monitoring of polling stations. Singh added, “We are going to monitor 534 polling stations live for 24 hours through CCTV.” This step is aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability throughout the electoral process. The live monitoring will be conducted via closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed at all polling stations, ensuring that every corner of the district is under constant watch.
Ensuring a Fair Election Process
The Election Commission’s focus on surveillance in Doda is part of a broader effort to ensure that the Assembly elections are conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner. The implementation of multiple layers of security and monitoring is expected to deter any potential malpractice or unlawful activities that could undermine the electoral process. “Our goal is to ensure that the people of Doda can exercise their democratic rights without fear or intimidation,” Singh emphasized.
As the election date draws closer, the people of Doda can expect heightened vigilance and security measures designed to safeguard their votes and uphold the democratic process. The Election Commission’s proactive steps, including the deployment of surveillance teams and advanced technological monitoring, reflect its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.
With these extensive preparations in place, the district of Doda is gearing up for what promises to be a closely watched election. The emphasis on surveillance, coupled with the strategic deployment of teams and technology, underscores the Election Commission’s resolve to deliver a fair and transparent electoral process. As Harvinder Singh and his team work diligently to ensure every vote is counted correctly and fairly, the eyes of the region—and the nation—remain firmly on Doda.
